Read where you can dispose different types of waste on the Waste Disposal Station. As a resident of Amstelveen, you can visit the Waste Disposal Station to deliver all your household waste that needs to be separated.
Your cooperation in the proper separation of waste is vital. Much of the waste contains valuable materials. By separating waste, these materials remain recycled. For more information view:
Containers for each waste type
There is a floor plan in the central area. In addition, each container clearly indicates which type of waste it is intended for. Each type of waste also has a number. The staff will also be happy to show you which container you should use to dispose of your waste.

Waste type | Number | Description |
Asbestos | 18 | Asbestos can be found in plant pots, vinyl floor covering (from 1968-1983), old irons, ovens, hot plates (see rules of how to deliver asbestos for disposal). You can bring 0.5 m³ per month for free. |
Tyres |

Car and scooter tyres can be handed in, ask an employee for help. Delivery at your garage/supplier is preferred. |
Garden sleepers | 16 | Garden sleepers and other impregnated wood waste, such as garden fences. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Roofing material | 17 | Roofing membranes and roofing material (bitumen). See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Electrical appliances | 5 | You can also return electrical appliances to the shop where you buy a new comparable appliance. |
Frying oil | 22 | Preferably in the original packaging. |
Gypsum | 3 | Plasterboard and blocks. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Bulky waste | 9 | Waste that does not fit in your own waste container/ underground container and is not covered by the other types of waste listed in this list. |
Soil | 1 | Sand, soil and turf; you must state your name and address when delivering soil because this must be registered. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Hard plastic | 6 | Hard plastics, such as buckets, garden furniture and plastic sheeting. |
Wood | 15 | Solid wood (not impregnated), non-painted wood, chipboard, plywood, MDF, lacquered wood and painted wood. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Small Chemical Waste | 23 | Medicines, (rechargeable) batteries, paint, gas discharge and low-energy light bulbs, gas bottles. |
Mattresses | 4 | Dry mattresses. |
Paper and cardboard | 11 | Non-plasticised paper such as cardboard boxes, books, newspapers and advertising material. No pizza boxes. |
Styrofoam | 8 |
Tempex, packaging material. |
PMD | 21 | Plastic packaging material, tins and drinking packs (empty) must be presented in another transparent bag. |
Rubble | 2 | Tiles, bricks, earthenware. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. |
Residual waste | 10 | All the small household waste that remains after all other types of waste have been separated as much as possible. |
Textiles | 19 | Old and clean textiles and shoes (tied together) packed in a plastic bag. |
Wood | 13 | Blad, schoon snoeihout zonder plastic zakken. |

Reusable items | Small items can be placed in the container that can be reused. For more information, please visit De Boemerang. | |
Renovation waste | Waste released when building, renovating and demolishing houses and gardens, such as soil, fences, corrugated iron, kitchens. See the disposal rules for renovation waste. | |
Container glass | 20 | Empty jars and bottles (also with lids) that have contained foodstuffs or cosmetics, for example. The jars may contain residues of their contents. Please note: oven dishes, fireproof glass and crystal drinking glasses should be disposed of with the residual waste. |
Flat glass | 12 | Glass panes, including double-glazing, wired glass and mirrors (unframed) |
