Longer stay of Ukrainian refugees in Amstelveen

The municipality has been hosting refugees from Ukraine in Amstelveen since March this year. About 720 refugees are currently staying in our district, of which most are staying in hotels, and about 330 Ukrainians with host families. Due to the fact that they cannot return to their country in the near future, the municipality is making arrangements for them to stay in our district for a longer period of time.
Medical care for Ukrainian refugees now available at the Kronenburg General Practice (Huisartsenpraktijk Kronenburg)

Starting on May 25 2022, medical care for Ukrainian refugees will be provided by general practitioners at the Kronenburg General Practice. This service is for all Ukrainian refugees in Amstelveen, including those staying with host families.

Living allowance for Ukrainian refugees

Pending the final scheme to be adopted by the central government, the municipality of Amstelveen has been starting to provide living allowances to Ukrainian refugees. By living allowance we mean an allowance to cover for food, clothing and other personal expenses. The municipality will start the scheme on Wednesday, April 6.
Municipality works on facilities for refugees

Now that the initial reception for refugees has been taken care of, the municipality, together with social institutions, is working hard to offer refugees the right facilities as soon as possible.
Over 360 Ukrainians in shelter facilities in Amstelveen

In the week of March the 7th we started implementing shelter facilities in Amstelveen for refugees from Ukraine. We are accommodating these people in the Ibis Hotel and the Adagio Aparthotel. By now, we have about 360 people there, of which about 100 are children. With this, Amstelveen has filled its currently available capacity.
