Amstelveen highly values a good environment and subsequently has many parks, water gardens and green areas. Care for the environment in and around the house is also part of the pursuit of an attractive environment. To this end, the municipality of Amstelveen conducts a system of separate waste collection.
The Different Collection System has been introduced in 2018. More information you can find on Amstelveen is collecting raw materials.
Every household (low-rise buildings) owns 3 mini containers: Grey for Plastic, Metal/tin cans and Drinking cartons (PMD). Green for organic waste, vegetable, fruit and garden waste. Blue for paper and cardboard. For high-rise buildings there are underground containers in the nearby area.
For glass, batteries and textiles there are special containers located throughout the town. The free plastic bags for PMD can be obtained, free of charge, at the reception of the town hall, the central library at the Stadshart, the Westwijk library and at the refuse station (Grutterij 26, Industrial area Legmeer).
Small chemical waste, bulky refuse, electrical appliances, construction work refuse and wood can be left at the refuse station on the industrial area of Legmeer, Grutterij 26, or can you can have it collected from your home by calling the refuse collection department +31205404911.
