Financial support (bijzondere bijstand en minimaregelingen)
Do you have a low income and do you face special expenses? Then you may be eligible for special financial support. Special financial support is meant for necessary exceptional costs which you are not able to pay yourself. Whether you receive special financial support depends, among other things, on your income and assets such as your house, car and savings.
In addition to special financial support, the municipality of Amstelveen has other financial arrangements for people with a low income and little capital. For example, discounts via the Amstelveen Pass, a group health insurance with Zorg en Zekerheid, allowances for children (such as an allowance for the costs of a computer, internet, swimming lessons, school, sports), for the elderly (such as free public transport, reimbursement for durable consumer goods) and for chronically ill and disabled people (such as compensation of high healthcare costs)
Conditions
To request financial support, you must meet the following conditions:
- You are a resident of the municipality of Amstelveen;
- You are 18 years or older;
- You are a Dutch national or you have a valid residence permit;
- You have a low income and little capital according to established standards;
- Your costs are extraordinary and necessary;
- Your costs are not covered by another law or provision such as the Healthcare Insurance Act;
- You can not pay the extraordinary costs yourself;
- You are not entitled to any other benefit or allowance;
- The costs must have been incurred in the Netherlands.
How do you request help with low income?
Fill in and sign an application form and hand it in, together with the necessary documents.
You can hand in the form with the attachments at the Amstelveenloket (social counter at town hall) or send it to Department of Social Services, Antwoordnummer 103, 1180 VB Amstelveen
Term
The municipality takes a decision on your request within 8 weeks after receiving your application.
Objection and appeal
You can object to the decision on your application within 6 weeks after receiving the decision. Do you disagree with the statement on the notice of objection? Then you can lodge an appeal with the court.
