Parking fine
Did you receive a parking fine? You will find a card with a QR code underneath the windshield wipers of your vehicle. This card will state what the parking fine is for. You will receive a letter with the amount of the fine. You can pay using your bank account.
Additional parking tax (‘Naheffingsaanslag parkeerbelasting’)
In certain areas you are required to pay a fee for parking. This is called parking tax. You can pay this fee at the nearby parking machines or by using a parking app on your smartphone.
When you fail to pay for parking, or when you pay too little, you can receive a parking fine. This is called additional parking tax (‘naheffingsaanslag parkeerbelasting’).
If you wish to remain parked after being fined, you still need to pay a parking fee. The parking fine is not valid as a parking ticket.
Announcement of citation (‘Aankondiging van beschikking’)
You can also be fined for a violation of the traffic law. For instance when you park in an area where this is not allowed, when you exceed the speed limit or when you ignore a red light. If this is the case you will receive an announcement of citation (‘aankondiging van beschikking’).
When you find the announcement of citation, you must remove your vehicle immediately. It is not allowed to park at this location.
How to proceed
Did you receive a parking fine? The card with the QR-code will tell you what the fine is for. There is nothing you need to do with this card.
You will receive the parking fine by post at your home address. The letter will tell you how to pay. It is not possible to pay the fine at the city hall.
How to pay the additional parking tax
Within one week you will receive a letter from Cannock Chase. Cannock Chase works on behalf of the city of Amstelveen. You can pay for the fine using the code that is given in the letter.
How to pay the citation
You will receive a letter from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (‘Centraal Justitieel Incasso-bureau’). You will pay the fine directly to the CJIB.
Costs
The total amount of the fine will be stated in the letter sent to your home address. This amount depends on the violation and the applicable parking tax.
Appeal
If you want to make an appeal to the parking fine, you still have to pay. Appealing the fine does not give you an extension of the payment term.
